We just walked the edge of some ponds around where we llive with my surfire G2 and his gig and did pretty well. Any tips, tricks, or info on good giggs to get im looking to order one soon or stop by gander and get one.

And all pictures welcome .

And that means they get away and die. Good going nimrod.

I stopped gigging in the 80s. There was such a frog die off that there simply weren't any left worth going after. I love frog legs, but farmed just isn't the same. If the population ever rebounds I will do it again, but not until then.

There's not really any tips or tricks to tell. Tried all different kinds of lights and used everything from hands to home made gigs to the nice telescoping ones you can buy. Also done everything from wading along the edge to kayaks and what not. I prefer to just buy the nice gigs and only replace heads after breaking two or more points (I do prefer the thin 5 points to the beefy 3 pointers but they all seem to work just fine). I also prefer kayaks when on the lake and use a nice LED headlamp.

Now cooking is where the real tips and tricks are important haha. I usually soak the legs in a ziplock in a light salt and water mixture for 24 hours refrigerated then I prefer them grilled with old bay seasoning. Notice I say prefer because frog gigging is too easy and everything I've ever tried has worked and tasted good.

If you want some more specific recipes I can PM you of you'd like. And since you said pictures... I'll add some in the near future.

I have always killed them outright with a 22.  You must be a terrible shot.

Uh, not real sure what you mean by they get away and die.  When I shoot them they usually just die maybe do a back flip first...lol

Yeah, maybe he read that somewhere.  Shoot them and get away?  No.  Die?  Yes, then they hit the skillet.  Maybe somebody needs to get some actual field experience before they post?
