We're being overrun by muskrats in our pond.  They're starting to damage the dam.  THEY GOTTA GO!

Anyone in the Pacific, MO are interested?

I see that the season opens on 11-15.  I doubt that we will have done much about them before then.

I cant help personally but I used to tag along when a childhood friend ran a trap line.

Drowning rig.
Stick a 1X6 board in the pond at a 45 degree angle
put a leg hold trap on the board, chain the board to the trap, hang the trap loosely on a short nail
Cut an apple in half and nail  it above the leg hold trap
The muskrat climbs up to eat the apple , gets caught in the trap, falls into the water and drowns before it can chew its leg off.
freeze and sell to a furrier
profit

Happened to our ponds last year. Saw the first one in June and then there were around 30 by October. Let me just say #6 bird shot does wonders especially when applied right at dusk. We have zero muskrats this year.

The little suckers have gotten used to me coming down to the pond and are much harder to get a shot at.  Plus the dam is 130 yards long  and 100 yards from the opposite side so they never seem to be in range of a shotgun.  .22 mag does work when they're close enough to the bank to prevent a ricochet into the neighbors.

try one of these

You might have to do some research for placement, but the concept is simple: place in an underwater run near shore, wait for them to swim through. might be worth a try for around $5.

be sure to watch an instructional video so you dont hurt yourself.
