Filled a tag late afternoon on the Michigan firearm opener.  60 yards, Barnes 150 TSX hand load.  This is a pretty big deer for our area as most guys take the first legal buck they see.  No baiting, and lots of standing corn made it hard for those that can't hunt.  I saw around 30 deer, and 7 bucks, so not a boring day at all.  Scope is a Trijicon 1-8 with green reticle and has become my favorite deer hunting optic after trying 10 or so different scopes over the past 20 years.

Opening morning of the VT rifle season, chasing does behind the house. Hit him quartering towards me right behind the front shoulder and clipped the liver and he left a blood trail Stevie Wonder could follow.  He went 200 yards and fell dead (I bumped him thinking he was hit better)

35 yards 10.5" SBR AR with Aimpoint Comp M2, and the FBI T3 TBBC load, 7 points and will update when I weigh him in tomorrow.

Edit to add...   154 pounds, 3.5 years old is what the biologist at the check station said.

Got this guy about 0700 this am... he walked right past me at about ten feet with his eyes locked on three doe at the feeder. I literally did a "ready up" on him as he turned slightly and looked right up at me. Kill range was maybe ten yards.

6.8 SPC with hand loaded Hornady 120gr SST. He went about 40-50 yards at best.

My two for the year, four pointer and a button buck.  Took the button buck at 215 yards with a double lung.  The buck and the two does he was chasing almost ran me over.  The AR15 is in .223.  I use the Sierra 65-grain Game King over 25.2 grains of W748.

The youngest granddaughter and her youth season doe.  She used my rifle.

She just got this button buck.  155 yards.

Glock G20, 21 yds from a tree stand. Sig 180 grain hollow point ammo. My first time taking one with a handgun. I haven't hunted by myself in years (have been taking my son so he could shoot). He wanted to sleep in today so I went by myself to a stand I moved to the top of a hill that had a little funnel down a fence row where some oaks were dropping not long ago. I have been wanting to take one with a pistol and it all came together. Great peaceful morning in the field.

Hunting central FL... shot this one at 1:30 pm chasing a doe. Too bad his brow tines were broke off.

Made a shot that was about 250 yards, he had a through and through in the shoulder and hit the swamp.

Easy short track due to blood, bubbles, and stirred up muddy water.

So... due to the new rules, my 2019 deer season is officially over...

I managed to drop a 7 point buck late yesterday afternoon at 4:50 PM well before sunset after watching him for 10 minutes in thick Florida cover. I was hunting from one of my tree stands on the property when he made a turn and began walking away from me offering a quartering shot through a small window at 70 yards.

Of course I used my favorite; 6.8 SPC 12.5” AR-P barreled SBR with a Saker 7.62 suppressor.  The load is my favorite; Barnes 95 grain TTSX over 29.5 grains of LT-32.  The buck made 40 yards and collapsed.  As usual, the TTSX passed through with no recovery.

Of to the barn and butchering tasks.  My doe season opens tomorrow and I still can take 2 more bucks.  I have one 12 point on camera that is nocturnal and is the apple of my eye.

My 9 yr old shot the buck a couple of weeks ago. There was a bigger 8 pt with this one and I was trying to talk him out of shooting it and waiting for something bigger but he wanted to shoot. We weren’t even discussing this smaller one but they were pretty close to each other.  I was watching the bigger one in the binoculars when he shot and he didn’t move an inch.  I said, you missed, shoot again. Now I could see both deer and at the exact time he shot, the smaller deer fell.  Turns out he hit it first shot, I was just watching th wrong deer.  I said “you shot the wrong deer” thinking he was going to be extremely upset. He says “I know, I couldn’t get on the bigger one becaus of the window so I shot the little one.”  “I’m not like other people,  I don’t care how big it is, I just like shooting deer.”  Made a perfect shot at 157 yards

This week he shot 2 yearlings in a 10 min span.  One of them was quartering too and he hit it right behind the shoulder and exited a little far back.  The other one he hit low and too far back but she only ran 20 yards. No meat ruined on any of the 3 deer.  All of them using an AR10 .308, Silencerco Omega 300 and 168 gr Winchester ballistic silver tips

I had the same results with that bullet many years ago, .308 as well.  The entrance was good, exit was a bit far back and the doe lost her innards.  She actually ran about 100 yards, leaving her guts along the way.

Put a doe down tonight.   Had a really nice buck at 25 yards but as I raised my rifle,  the scope cap snagged my binoculars and made a slight tick noise that was enough to spook him.

About an hour later 3 does can through at the same place.  This time no issues and I nailed her just behind the left shoulder,  quartering ever so slightly to me.

Shot destroyed the heart and she ran about 40 yards before piling up.  She'll be yummy!

Ar15 in 300blk.  125gr Nosler BTs.  6th deer I've take with that load.  Works fantastic inside 150 yards.

I hunted Friday running our annual cull on 2500 high fenced acres in BFE PA
We shot 17 adults and 5 yearlings. No deer were lost and we stacked them like cordwood
We donated 4 to feed the hungry

My freezer will be full.

I shot a 3 year old Y buck with my savage 308

The land owner was ecstatic that we once again reduced the population and are keeping the herd healthy.
All the deer are checked for CWD and we have had zero in the population so far.

First weekend out this season. New lease in the South Texas Hillcountry with a LOT of animals. Tons of whitetail doe and small bucks with some exotics running around.
We are still allowed a "trophy" whitetail and some assorted does.

This was a 3yr old cull with no brow tines. Only a 5 pt. but great mass and width. 7mm Rem Mag with 150gr Handloads. Nosler Solid Base (old stock) behind H4831SC.

My younger brother spotted this nice Axis around 5pm saturday and laid him out right as he stepped into the open. Sako A7 300 Win Mag. 150gr Factory ammo.
Main beam 34.5" on the long side. Point broke off the other side making it 30.5".
