My daughter decided this was the year she was ready to hunt after asking her about going the last few years. She got drawn for a Kaibab youth doe tag and got her first deer this past weekend with one shot from her older sister's passed down Marlin .243.

Very NICE!!!  140"?  judging by your avatar photo youre no stranger to nice bucks!  I wish MI would adopt OH deer hunting regs.  Good job!
Thanks!
I green scored him at 149.25" gross. He has a lot of deductions, so I didn't calculate all that, lol.
Ohio has some great deer hunting. Worth the drive!

The grandson and youngest granddaughter on youth season weekend.  She used a Ruger American compact in .243 with a red dot.  The grandson obviously used a AR15.  This is the second deer he has killed with it.  He used 62 grain Federal Fusion MSR factory load and a red dot.  Busted both shoulder with complete penetration.

Took my first deer ever on opening day 10 minutes into the hunt. We were on our way to sit in the stands of oaks since the deer were tearing up the acorns, and only saw a couple does away from the acorns. He presented himself at about 45 yds. I took him with my Hells Canyon Speed, 6.5 creedmore, while he was on the move. Got a good lung shot on him. He maybe walked 3 yds before collapsing. The area we were hunting, Kaibab, is known for some big boys, but I was more looking for some sweet tender freezer food. I am beyond happy with my harvest, and am fully addicted more than I thought I could be.

I've never put in so much work for a deer and lost so much sleep dreaming about it.  It ain't a trophy in most people's eyes, but for all the bow practice, making everything is just right
soaking sweats morning and evening waiting for this guy to show up, finally he walks out of a pine cutover last evening as it's almost to dark to see.

100g 3 blade muzzy and old McPerson Bishop.  Shop him at 30 feet from an elevation of 25 feet quartered away.  Cut the bottom out of his heart. He ran about 60 yards.

Beautiful deer I’d consider it a trophy.

My son got his second doe with his rifle during our early season youth hunt. The following day I got the 8 with the the crossbow. The shot was at 23 yards and the deer barely ran. Using Nap Spitfires. Now just gotta get the little guy his first buck.

Managed to break in a new 6.8 SPC build. Range was only 25 yards or so... hand loaded 120gr SST with AA2200.

Not a big buck, but it's legal, was fun to shoot, and the bottom of the freezer is no longer showing.

I've decided to start off the season (and every season from now on when hunting my own place) with a "legal buck" if one shows up... once I get a kill on the record books, then I'll be more discriminating. There have been plenty like him on the game cams so no harm.

She had a horse wreck at about 17 years old and during her hospital stay her father, who she used to hunt with, had a massive stroke and is now unable to function above about a 3 year old level. Was talking to her at the shop one day and she mentioned that she would most likely never get to hunt again so a buddy and I decided to prove her wrong .

I won a savage 16 in 6.5 creedmore last month , scoped it up and gave it to her today as the grand prize in the CRAZYDENNY big buck contest.

Shot this 3.5 year old trash buck last weekend in West Texas. I have way to many little trash bucks in my area so I’m going to do my best to weed that gene out of my area so I’ll eventually start seeing more bigger bucks.

Had a really nice 8pt come out opening morning but he needs another year or two and I’m waiting for rut to shoot my big buck. Second weekend of December should be fun!

I've got a Howa Mini 6.5 Grendel in a MDT chassis.  I need to get the barrel cut down to 16" and threaded, but I always seem to have something else with a higher priority.

Awesome !  I have just about everything to have bucks like this on my farm in Southeastern Michigan, but neighbors shoot them wholesale as 1.5 year olds.  About 200 acres of field and creek bottom.  Biggest I've managed is a 153" .  My personal minimum is 3.5 year old 130" unless it has potential.  How many acres do you have?  Michigan has potential, but the 2 buck tag, and everything thing else really hinders mature buck potential.

Where did you get that muley?  Another hunt on my list.

got this guy yesterday morning with a bunch of work .  I muffed the shot and missed the heart . took out one lung . I found a nice blood trail for about 100 yds and it just quit I saw a deer running the other direction and thought it could be him so I went back to the house and had a cup of coffee and waited about an hour . I decided to go check a bedding are that was in the direction it ran found nothing   so I started walking my fence line . still nothing when I got to the far corner of my property I was frustrated and decided to head back to try and pick the trail back up where I lost it , low and behold as I started up th e hill I looked over in a ravine that had some honey suckle which is the direction I initially saw him run  and there he lay . I field dressed him and walked back to the house to get my side x side , damn near tipped it over getting down the hill , got the deer back to the house dressed him out and boned out the meat . about 10lbs into the grinding our meat grinder exploded lol so a 68 mile round trip to town was in order .  I made some stupid mistales and am grateful I stuck with it and finally found the deer .

2nd buck this year, same rifle, 6.8 SPC with 120gr SST Hand loads. Shot was about 100 yards over a scrape...

Not a monster, but nice for a FL deer.

ETA- looks like I almost had a case head separation... have not seen any issues with other brass from this rifle, will keep an eye out for sure.

The Grendel lost its virgin status.  Straight on shot, broke the right shoulder and split the heart into a V, Hornady 123gr SST at about 50 yards.

Hadn't seen anything and was just looking around and saw movement about 90-100 yards up on a hill.  Turns out it was the top of a cedar sapling that moved, figured a squirrel jumped on to it.  But it didn't stop and began swinging side to side alot and not stopping so I figured it had to be a buck doing it but couldn't see a thing.  A few minutes later I see movement as he is coming down the hill and angling towards me, I had some doe in heat stuff out.  At first I thought he was a six-pointer and when I got my scope on him, I saw a drop tine, so I dropped him.  Headed back out Monday and Tuesday for does.

Taken with buckshot at 7:30am this morning.  Chasing a doe.

ETA:  This is Buck 'A' in the cam videos I posted on page one.  Never thought I would see this deer in the daylight.  Scored 127 4/8 net with over 5" of deductions.   3 1/2 years old.
