What's your opinion on rainy conditions?  Looks to be that way tomorrow and I'm wondering if I should run out tonight and buy some cheap rain gear.

Guy I was flying with earlier said sometimes it seems deer move a bit more during the rain.

Additionally, IF you're going to suggest going out, what do you guys do to protect your rifles?  I won't have any cover to speak of, though I could put up a pop-up blind later on in the day.

Light drizzle, scattered showers and such have always been fairly active hunts for me. I just wear a goretex too and waterproof boots. I dry and oil the gun after the hunt is over.

If it's gonna be a down pour I don't even bother.

With today's technology available to inexpensively keep us comfortable in almost any weather, the only reason you should hesitate to shoot at a deer in the rain is...

Will you have the ability to track it before recovery is possible ?

Let your conscience be your guide.

Hmm, great point.  I know the land pretty well as it's private, family land.  Could be a pain searching for it all day though.  Something to think about for sure.

I'll keep an eye on the wx forecasts.  I think they were calling for decent amounts of rain, so yeah, I may not bother.  Gonna head to Academy here in a few to check on their selection of good though.

Thanks, fellas!

ETA:  Judging by your username you're always hunting the wind, eh?  lol

I have a hunting property with an old barn for rainy days, killed a nice 8pt last year there while it was raining.  Gortex is nice though.

Went out to Academy and picked up a Frogg Toggs jacket and pants.  Bought them fairly large to fit over my bulky winter gear.  Looking forward to trying it out!  Thanks!
