What do you guys recommend for an LED flashlight to attach to a cap or over the head for when walking to tree stand or using while using a climber that your hands are a bit busy. What do you guys use or think is best and is affordable.

I have a Petzl Tikka that works just fine.  $35 or so, I have abused it for the last ten years and it keeps on going.

I sweat by my Coleman max.  5 settings with blue and red lenses.  (Seems to not carry so far at night but just enough to set up your climber.  Plus they use AAA batteries and not some odd ball that you don't have laying around.)

petzyl makes some really good head lamps.  I also use an old energizer that I have had for years.  It doesnt hurt to have a spare in your pack.

Up until about a year ago I was using a Petzyl that my brother-in-law bought for me from REI about 9 years ago. It was a near top of the line headlamp that he payed quite a bit for, but it was before LEDs lights became popular and it runs on a few AA batteries. A year ago I purchased PrincetonTec APEX Pro for a killer deal from a website (don't recall the site). This thing puts my Petyzl to shame. Granted, I think that is more due to the LED lights and newer tech than the brand. Since my EDC light, weapon lights, and rifle reflex sights all use CR123 lithium batteries I wanted to purchase a headlamp that also did. I prefer all my electronic platforms utilize the same battery type. My PrincetonTec APEX Pro is now my primary headlamp and my Petyzl is the backup.
