Does anyone use an eotech for deer hunting

I used a aimpoint last year, I think the eotech would be fine, especially for thick areas

Ive used a red dot, not aimpoint or eotech, before and it worked fine.  I would still bring binos though.

You can use red dot sights but their down side is that they are not very bright like good quality scopes.
They are not a handicap when the sun is out but when the sun goes down or before it comes up they are not very good.
It's very rare I see animals out when the sun is out.
I would prefer to use a scope over red dot sight any day.

Depends on your range & accuracy wants.

I have an astigmatism.  The EOTech reticle is completely incompatible with astigmatism.  The reticle will look like a bunch of grapes and can cause misses of several inches at 100 yards.

This caused me much consternation on a deer hunt several years ago.

Hunted with an EOTECH mounted on 16" AR for one season.  Carried my Browning A-bolt with me on every hunt.  I found that most deer appear very late and even on the lowest intensity setting the Eotech made it very difficult to see the dark shadowy image of the deer vitals, i could have taken the shot on many occasions , but found myself reaching for my scoped A-bolt.  I have since mounted a fixed 5X scope to the AR and now hunt exclusively with that.  If you are seeing deer other than BMNT or late EENT (legal shooting time of course) then the Eotech should be fine for most shots under 100yds anything further I found difficult to identify vitals.

Just my experience for what its worth.
