I am upgrading the scope on my hunting rifle. I alreay have a scope on there and a decent set of rings. The rings are solid and aligned properly. When just swapping scopes do I have to do anything other than setting the scope up for proper eye relief and making sure it's not canted. The new and old scope both have the same tube diameter and are both 3×9×40. Just upgrading the glass. Thanks.

You'll have to resight it. One simple tip: If you can mount the firearm in a vise with the old scope's reticle on the bullseye of a target, you can remove it, install the new scope, and adjust the new scope's reticle to the bullseye.

Yeah I know I would have to sight it in again. I just saw some stuff about rotating the scope in a V block to make sure the crosshairs don't float. I got it mounted up and will sight it in this weekend.
