We're killing bucks on my place at a pace I've never had before.
My boy Matt killed a nice buck tonight with a bow from a stand I didn't even know he had up.
That is two small racked bucks and one nice racked buck in the last 5 days. Our muzzle loader and regular rifle season haven't even opened yet.
It's just been Youth season and Archery.
He hit the buck in the heart with an expanding broad head which blew through the buck at 20 yards. It spewed blood like I've never seen and only made it 50 feet or so before it dropped.

This is the first year we haven't planted food plots because of the drought. We've had corn feeders out since August. The first deer on the cameras looked POOR but the deer that have been dropped were some of the fattest I've seen in years. We had rain in the middle of September and the grass greened up a lot. They've obviously been hitting the green stuff hard because all their guts were filled with green grasses.
The deer have recovered quickly from the drought with just a few inches of rain.

Tell him Nice,

Especially since he did it from somewhere that the Old Man had no idea existed.

It was a shock. Not anywhere near a feeder either. Plus he cut very few limbs for shooting lanes.

Nice buck!

Thanks. I still get a big grin seeing my boys drop deer even now when they are in their early 30s.
