Im going to be making up a ground blind out of some 2X4's and other wood laying around.
I have enough to make a decent sized one.
I was wondering what to do about the wood touching the ground.
Do any of you put a special coating or something on the bottom wood to keep it from deteriorating?

Also is their a good paint I should be looking at in order to coat this blind?

I would recommend using green treat lumber for anything contacting the ground.

Our best blinds don't touch the ground...put them up on 10' treated 4x4 posts to cover more ground...at lease in Michigan!
If it is your intention to leave it there a long time, use pressure treated lumber specific for ground contact.
We found the portable hub blinds to be more productive...move around depending on wind, season, and hunting pressure.

Put it on cinder blocks since you already have the wood. It will last a lot longer.

Good idea....I dont know why I didnt think of that.
As for raising the stand, I can not really do that.
The location I want the blind prevents me from raising it up.

Use the 4x4 preformed concrete post bases.

Can get them at Lowe's, HD, etc....

Resin boards on the ground level?  Those can be purchased at the hardware stores as well.

My two permanent ground blinds are built with treated lumber and rest on concrete blocks.  It's a pretty stable platform.
