This is my sons first year deer hunting. So far we have been striking out. I have a until Monday to try to get him on some deer and land selection is limited.

We are able to use up to 2 gallons of bait here in WI. I am thinking about dropping some corn for him to hunt over. All of the corn fields have been harvested by now.

My question is this. Since the corn is dry is there anything I can add to help the deer "find" the pile quicker. Some scent? I was thinking about adding some chopped up apples into the mix for the smell but I am afraid it will do nothing since there arent any apple trees around here....... that I know of. There may be some on private property but I an not sure.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to help make the pile more attractive?

Id really like to make his first season a good one to help "set the hook" so to speak.

I've had pretty good luck by mixing some liquid "c'mere deer" with the corn, of course ymmv!

Thanks for the info. I grabbed a small jug of "Black Magic" I will mix with the corn.

At least if he doesnt get one now we have a special antlerless season in December.
