I haven't been hunting since I was a kid (Almost 40 now) and am planning to get back into it this year. My questions is, can you hunt on private land any time during the year or does it have to be in season?
A buddy of mine has 90 acres and we were planning to go out over Memorial weekend. Thank you in advance. |

find a mentor or a relative that hunts to help you along, even a shooting friend might help you get started back hunting. at least you asked the question, but really you should get some help based on the question you asked. Maybe hometown forum here or I've met some hunters from online hunting forums that were great!
bowsite.com archerytalk.com monserymuleys.com duckhuntingchat.com refugeforum.com these are some of the good ones but you might find a state website much better! lots of people get enjoyment out of helpilng new hunters. Better yet join a hunting club/lease. They need the money and are usually glad to help. |

Depends upon what you want to hunt.
You've already been given the link to the VA hunting regs. In VA about the only things you can hunt year round are groundhog, skunk, and coyote. Doesn't matter if the land is private or not you still have to follow the game regs. And no hunting on Sunday. But we do have a pretty long deer season, and if you can get a damage control permit sometimes you can hunt deer year round. |
