here is my first decent sized buck - got him last wednesday near Statesville, Ala on an 800 acre tract of pretty good hunting land near the Alabama River
I was hunting a freshly plowed field with new winter rye coming up about 4:30 in the afternoon and 3 bucks came out to graze - they were about 100 yds away and i studied them for a few minutes before dropping what i thought was one with the largest rack - i have never seen multiple bucks together like that, only does, but they were hanging out together - i suppose that is not unusual i just have never seen more than one buck together i thought it was an 8 pt but ended up being only 7 point - shot him with my remington 700 in 30.06 and he ran about 25 yds and fell - if i had a semi-auto i could have shot another one as the other 2 ran about 75 yds stopped and turned around to look back, i jacked the bolt on the .06 and they turned and took off again - you are only allowed 1 deer a day in Alabama, so it probably would not have been a good idea to take another but my adrenaline was taking over and i felt the urge to kill as many as i could anyway we had backstrap that night - i was pretty pumped also got this 100 lb sow the next day at dusk as well out of a group of 3 hogs about 75 yds away in a different field - i will post that pic in the hog hunting section as well so those texas hog hunters can check her out

Man son whole hog sausage would be good about now . 
Had a friend call me from South Al. call last week asking how to hunt the hogs on there property, I told him the best way was for me to come down and show him .
