I have owned two pair of them.  One worked decent, the other did not work at all.

I think a quality sock/boot combo works better, but granted I have not tried all electric socks.  I really like my 1200 gram boots with smartwool socks.

I finally went to expensive polypropylene socks and pack boots, as I've always heard the electric socks make one's feet sweat too much.  Red Wing Shoe stores did have the good heavy polypro socks for about $20/pair.  They are like the old wool socks, but the polypro works MUCH better.

Not all Insulated Boots are created the same. Some are better than others.

As mentioned, a good boot/sock combination is really important.

I choose to wear a liner sock, and then a thick wool blend sock with my Rubber Boots.

Both the liner sock (wicks moisture outward) ($4-$5) and the wool blend sock are from Bass Pro.

The wool blend is their lifetime sock. If it wears out, take it back for a new pair.($10)

My Rubber Boots are Lacrosse Alpha Lite's (Insulated with 3.5mm neoprene)

These are my Spring Turkey, and Early Bow Deer Season boots.

They are perfect with just wearing a liner sock, and get a little snug with liner sock and wool sock.

Last year I was hunting MO in Nov. and got a little chilly when temps dropped below 35 degrees.

This year I think I will grab a pair of these just in case.

I use the stick on chemical boot heaters, that stick on the bottom of your sock. They work great for those long mornings in the stand.

Years ago I guy I hunted with wife kept complaining about always getting cold.

Long story short Mr. Fix-it wrapped her long underwear in wire and hooked her up to one of those lantern batteries ( you know the kind with the spring type connectors on top). She stood there in front of the rest of us for a min or two saying wow this is really warm. And then she was cussing and yelling and stripping out of clothes in front of the rest of hunting camp

The problem might be your feet sweating on the walk into the stand and getting cold from being slightly damp.  One of my friends has a pretty long walk to his stand so he wears tennis shoes on the walk and carries his boots, bids, and jacket.

Good poly-pro socks with small chem warmers in boots.  Place the warmers in your boots when they start to cool from the walk or ride to the stand.  When on the stand, unlace the boots a little and if the warmers cool down, just pump your feet up and down a few times.  This will replace the 02 in the boots and restart the warming action.

I take my boots off in the stand.  May be cool but they dont freeze like they do when they sweat.  If in the blind, i hunt in my underwear....love the propane heater!!!
