Congrats, the first is always fun.  I think I was 14 or so when I shoot one.  I remember yelling "Dad, dad, dad, I got one!"

Sweet, good for you.  What kind of slugs or sabots were you using and what kind of groups does your 870 shoot with them?

i was using hornady sst sabots, and(in 3 shots) i can shoot baseball sized groups at 50 yards, without any type of bench or shooting rest. Very accurate, i think, and a nice wound channel, the bullet went thru both lungs and basically made them unrecognizable and took out a nice chunk of the heart as well. Not sure how she did it but she still ran about 100 yards after being hit

Outstanding!!

You'd be amazed at how far a deer can run with lungs and/or heart trashed.

Sweet

I was 43 when I finally got my first deer.
I had dropped hunting from about 1980 til I started back in 2004.
Silly 8 point cow pasture deer.

Congrats!! Nice size doe, I wish the one I got on Thursday was that big...

The only disappointment I have is...

Where is your blood face???

Dont you know you are supposed to wear the blood of your first kill to become one w/

the animal and become a successful hunter! Go out in that gut bucket and rub some

blood on your face right now!

I was 17 when I got my first deer.  It was a scrappy spike with deformed spikes that looked like twisted sprouts from a grape vine but I remember that day like it was yesterday, I could not have been more excited.  It was, to this day, one of the most memorable moments of my life.

Congrats to you!  This is a defining moment in your life.  You will remember every detail until the day you die.  Savor it!

ETA:

thats a big fucking doe!
