Thinking of gettin one for my hunting pack, anyone used one yet or have heard of this light? Has been said that the blue LED helps with tracking blood, is this really true?
Thanks

Hmm how would that help on the tracking, the Sidewinder has red, blue, and green LEDs. Thought it was said that blue was the one to use?

The blue filter will make blood look black on foliage.  Red and green lights don't create near as much contrast.  I don't know of anything besides blood that will look the same under blue light.  Maybe used motor oil or tar?  Here is an explanation I found on candlepowerforums:

Blue is great for tracking blood in foliage. Because the backround is green and the blood is red( and color invert of your filter) the blood will stand out like black holes cause there's no blue in it to reflect back.

Red is nice because it doesn't hurt your night vision as much as white light.  I've heard it doesn't disturb some game as much as other lights, but I know that turkeys can see the red light and don't like it.

Green also supposedly doesn't disturb game, but I haven't tried one so I don't really know.

I haven't looked at the Sidewinder before.  It seems to have about everything on it.

Thank you for the input, that would make scence that the blood would look black againts the green.
As far as the red light not spooking the game, I tryed that on hogs, used a spot light with a red lens and they did not seem to mind it.
Then again I have used my regular flashlight on them and only after a few more bits of corn did they run off.
I seen an ad on the Sidewinder in a hunting magazine, went online to Streamlight and read up on it.
Think I might treat myself to one for Christmas
Thanks again.
