As with AmericanPatriot1776, I too got my first deer 'later in life'(33)
I got a doe at 0739 today. I took her with my Colt 20" throwing 75gr Prvi Match out the end at 176 yards. Got a lung shot and she expired about 20 yds from the point of impact. I have two more tags to fill and can't wait

Yea, I finally got two myself. I saw some great bucks a few weeks ago, but never could get a good shot. Man, I was just sick. Hadn't seen much since then until yesterday. A spike ran out directly 10-yards in front of my ground blind and as I reached for my 1911 he spun around and ran back from where he came.

I was wondering what had spooked him when all the sudden a doe came running out, stopping about 25-yards directly in front of me, so I took her with my rifle. I waited to see if the spike would come back and about 5-minutes later one of the bucks (7-point) that I had seen previously ran right up to the doe, so I took him too.

I just want to encourage you guys that haven't taken a deer yet to stick with it and don't get discouraged. I was freakin' sick for the last couple of weeks, but persistance has payed off. Even if you don't take anything at all (like I did last year) don't quit, and certainly don't get mad and sell your rifle (like the guy that I bought my Browning BAR for $400 from a few years back).
