i just picked up a .243 for deer hunting and im not sure what ammo to feed it.
i know im going to use 100 gr.
but what brand have you had luck with?
i put about 20 rounds of rem core lock through it and im on the paper but not as good as i should be.

i do not understand the facination with a .243. but..
if it were me i would shoot 100gr hornady or winchester loads.

Me neither.  To me it is too small, although it is a good starter rifle(I never had one, started out with a .308 myself).

I use Winchester Power Points in my .308, and they work great on deer.

 If you don't reload, about all I can think of is to try different factory ammo, until you find what it likes best. Also, check all of your scope mounting hardware, to be sure it's tight. (Bases and rings) Checking the action screws for consistant tightness can also help.

 I dunno if you want to go as far as having the rifle bedded, but that is one way to really help it shoot. I'll not have another bolt action rifle that isn't bedded. Good Luck.

I know someone who uses a .243 for hunting. She may be girl but shes killed 2 deer with it so far, one DRT I think and the other ran maybe 75 yards. Shot placement...
