Prop on 30m was not great for me last night. I cold only copy them 1 out of 3 cycles on FT8, so I didn't even bother to try CW. I should be able to work them on 30m & 40m if the sun cooperates. |

Summer propagation is the absolute worst with the low bands being so noisy. I did see that there will be another expedition to Fraz Josef Land next next month. RI1FJZ will be active there from September 9th through the 25th, so we should have a few more opportunities to make some contacts. |

Finally managed an SSB QSO with them last night on 20M. They were weak and just barely intelligible at my QTH even using all of the filter, NR, and gain settings as best I could. Had my fingers crossed until I saw their log update this morning.

So Far: Attached File 9/2 Update: [NEWS UPDATE] by Vasily, R7AL. All goes well here on Heiss island. The propagation has been very poor for the last 3 days, but recovered a bit today. We are working hard to give a new one or new band slots for as many stations as we can. The weather is cold and windy and it’s quite a challenge to do any antenna work. We’ll QRV two more days. Some stations will be QRT 4th of Sept in the evening, but 2-3 stations will be running until 5th of Sept. The sat internet is very slow (Starlink does not work here), so we can’t answer all the emails, but we are reading them. Thanks for all the kind words we receiving from DXers worldwide! All “not in the log” requests will be carefully checked when we get back home. Thank you very much for Donations! We really appreciate the DX-community support and it’s very important for us! Donors List will be updated on the website later. Not a single Donation will be lost. All Donors and Direct OQRS will be uploaded to LoTW within few days after coming back home. |

When they updated the log I had both QSOs. Go figure. |
