I did a Yaktivation this morning, 18 CW QSO’s, all while on the water. The little Gabil vertical works pretty well. After uploading my log, I realized this is a two-fer..can I just reupload the same log with the other park number?

I am camping at K-647X tonight. Missouri Park.
Will be on the air. If you are playing radio after 2pm and into the night. (Also ordered a Linux laptop online. I am done with Windows with radio) Eta; the bands are not doing well. 10m seems open....... but no answers to CQ. I can hear South America |
|
|
I’m heading out to try K-7194 for my first time. Hope it’s not raining too hard out there.

Nothing workable in the States I figured 10m would be the only possibility. Not a good day. I will be back at the radio around 5pm your time |

The OP either shut it down for the night or is in the bathroom covered in shoe polish from belt to knees trying to get the lighting right -Sierra5

I see an ARFCOM logo spotted on 6m FT8, but no copy here |

Thanks guys, I haven’t even bothered calling. I’m getting Europe but I can’t hear the US stations
|
|

I worked a POTA on 6 FT8. That should be the last one I need for the six-pack award. He was in MN. I am in MO.
|
|
|
I got AK for POTA finally. I had it for WAS nearly a year ago, but it took a while for POTA so it's nice to get it in the log.
I also got a few new ATNO DX entities so maybe the new antenna isn't so bad. |

Are the bands doing any better down there today?

Getting lunch and heading out |

Just got set up at K-3764 and will be on 10m FT8

Hopefully setting up at K-7191 in about an hour if it doesn’t start raining.

Started doing POTA Memorial Day 2021
two years ago. Wife has come along to most of them, she likes to run HAMRS and spot nature 152 activations 77 unique parks this is the most fun I've had on ham radio Attached File Attached File |

I really don’t understand the band conditions. All the metrics seem to indicate that they should be much better than they are. I just don’t get it.
Anyway, I scratched out 11 contacts on 20m in a little less than an hour. At least it wasn’t pissing wet and I had the most comfortable operating position than I’ve had in awhile. I’m usually sitting on the ground. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I called one qth and then got everybody that heard me calling me. I was in a pretty rare grid I believe for CONUS. Today I did a a quick 30 minute activation at K-0065 as I'm passing through ND. I cut it off after logging 50 on 20m SSB. Good thing too, just after I quit I started hearing thunder and not much later storms were rolling in that I was mostly keeping ahead of. Now stopped at a rest area for tonight. Expect to activate some more new states in the next few days. |

Attached File View Quote We hit a new park about 14:50pm local yesterday. Had a hell of a time getting 10 in the log, mostly on 20m. then busted an 8P6PE pile-up ( park-to-park) conditions were terrible . . then drove to another park, watched Momma bald eagle and her 3 pups. Pups are flying around now. did another activation at 00:00utc and it was hopping Attached File |

Doing a short 20m Ft8 activation in IN if anyone is at the radio.

It was a MO park and the activator mentioned trout fishing. I'm having a great POTA hunting night. I got through to HI in spite of all the QRM and it's my first SSB contact with a Hawaiian station so that was fun, and it being a POTA contact is just icing on the cake. I already had HI POTA on FT8, but sideband is another thing entirely. |

I got a MN Arfcom QSO as well on that activation. |
