Quoted: Let's see if we can avoid going into the codeplug for now...can you make calls from the front of the radio? If so, assuming you have hotspot set up as tgif_network as dmr master: a group call to 556 for the TG or a private call to 9990 (parrot) View Quote I don't know how to set the radio to transmit in DMR format without editing and downloading the plug. I do have several simplex frequencies programmed but they are in analog mode. The radio is Tytera MD380. Last time I used this radio was about 2 years ago. Honestly, I'm not a digital guy and had no clue what I was doing except that I heard someone talking on one of the pre-programmed DMR repeaters. I called him and he replied. Audio quality was terrible but we made a QSO. This is all I have done on DMR. I only want to participate in the Arfcom DMR net. Nothing else interests me in digital VHF/UHF. HF DX-ing is my poison in this hobby. The plug was put there by the local seller (BuyTwoWayRadios). They are here in town. Got the radio from them. |

DMR had me banging my head against the wall for a bit. I kept playing around with it and had that, “A-Ha!!” moment. Now it’s pretty easy. |

Good to hear you all, we had 9 check-ins, 2 new stations (Jay in TN, montuckyman)

Good hearing everyone. I had trouble setting up my hotspot at first too. Stay with it once it works it’s pretty cool.

@Gyprat
Nice QSO. Was just about to shut down when I heard you in there. Take care, 73. |
|
Finally got it working.
I wish HRO would provide sufficient information on how to set up this unit. They didn't. It's like buying a new FTDX101 without a manual but with a link to a 2 page user instructions that tell you how to power it up. LOL. Even an experienced user won't know how to setup all the functions. Anyway. I want to thank all of you guys, for your help! 73! |

Yes on TG 556, unfortunately...we will have a net at 9 PM on the ARFCOM FCS room, FCS00336 UPDATE 12/17/2020 - Tonight's DMR Net is cancelled. The issue is the TGIF server is currently down, and being relocated to a different server. To use the the new server you have to register, and it's taking up to 24 hours for some folks (including me) to get your password to enter the new server. To access FCS00336 Attached File You can access the FCS00336 through DMR radios...DMR and DMR2YSF modes have to be enabled (possibly YSF modes disabled) . And of course with Yaesu System Fusion radios (disable DMR mode at the top). Attached File |

View Quote Just came here to ask if anyone was having problems connecting to TGIF. Guess that answers that. I guess I’ll put this OpenSpot 3 to use. |

Thanks to @Stretchman - he sent me a heads up on the issues and the available room.

I heard you Alembic. I guess you’re not hearing me. Need to figure out how to setup the radio I guess. Never done this before.

@gyprat
@FredTheLurker @Keith1980 @Stretchman Just made contact on TG 556 Maybe it's back up....I'll be monitoring both but keep 556 as the primary. |

I assume, several modes can be selected at the same time and the 'majic box" will switch modes automatically, right? Sad part is that my FT-70's battery was almost dead after sitting for a week (powered off). It drains the battery when switched off. It's charging now. Hopefully it'll charge enough for the net. FT-70 is a nice radio but the battery life is pitiful. It takes forever to recharge too. |

My biggest complaint on the FT-70D, I went ahead and bought an extra battery and a charging cradle for mine. The Anytone 878 battery life is outstanding and so I tend to use it more. |

Thanks to all who put up with the issues while TGIF gets sorted. FCS00336 worked out nicely for those who could get in.
Tonight we had 8 check-ins with NCS. Great to hear you on the net, gyprat. 73 |

Great to hear you on the net, gyprat. 73 View Quote Yea, good net last night. Glad I had a chance to use both DMR and Yaesu Digital radios. I'll just leave the hot spot set to both Arfcom channels. This was the reason I bought it. Honestly, I have no interest to explore the internet based digital any further, except maybe adding a D-Star channel to take advantage of my ID-51 and ID-5100 radios. |

Attached File This is the Nextion image created by EA7KDO. It requires a TTL to USB to have bi-directional functionality, but it's by far the most versatile display hotspots. EA7KDO Nextion image for a 3.5" display. |

Apparently, you don't need a radio to access the Talk Group or Net. Droid-Star App
Will update the OP |
