I'm finally getting around to studying for my tech test.
I started out with the ARRL book. If you were going to teach a semester class it would be great but was too involved for me and I kept putting things off.

I found an audio book on Audible and the matching paperback book on Amazon that are great. I'm using both together.
The guy is easy to listen to and just gets right to the point with a little more in-depth explanation where necessary.

I highly recommend this to anyone who is procrastinating... I also ordered the flash cards, I think from ARRL. They are great to check on what you need to look at more..

Gordon West's study guides are very nice too. My wife read his Tech Study book for several evenings and passed the test with flying colors. She had no clue about radios or anything radio related. She still does not have a clue but she passed the test. She knows the very basics, like pressing a PTT button to transmit and how to ID with her call sign. I set the frequency and DV mode on her ID-51a radio, lock the buttons and give it to her. So far it has been awfully handy.

I personally think that FCC need to drop a lot of electronics and RF theory and concentrate more on regulations, safety and operating procedures.

The ham study website is really good, to . Do the flash cards and get a feel for the material or do the test and memorize, it works either way

I second the hamstudy.org suggestion.  Great resource to learn the exam.

If you want to learn the material I'm quite impressed with Stu's book.  We put on a class earlier this year and it was based on his book.  Check out hamradioschool.com.
