I'm very happy, just got my general today, now I need to get something to get on the air!!
And we had an fldigi class today, seems easy enough and looks like fun. |

That's awesome, OP!
Getting my General was a big deal for me, a few buddies and I took a weekly class for most of a summer-it was a tough class but the instruction was good and out of 17 students only one didn't pass and she was a repeat. You'll find HF to be a lot more fun than what you can do as a Technician, antennas are going to be where it's at, hope you have space for a good one-they get pretty big even as quarter waves. |

Congrats.. General is a big step into the hf bands. Whole lot of real estate to talk on. Yes get something up and make some contacts.. Focus on the antenna because that is what makes it all work. Hope you have an elmer to help you with the learning. If you have a question dont hesitate to ask or im me..

Congratulations! Now the fun operating begins!
The most important part of your station will be the antenna, and they're easy to build. I have 2 acres to put wires up, so I'm all set. I can run a full wave if I wanted to, just look like a really long clothes line. Borrowed the Arrl antenna book and scouring through it. Are the extra areas like the Team section on here? lol Yes, but you can't just buy your way into the Extra portions of the bands. Two acres huh? What kind and how tall are the trees if any? |
| Congratulations , getting my general was a big deal for me felt like i had really accomplished something and it was something i wanted to do since i was 12 , i went on and got my Extra but it was nothing like getting my general . With that much room i would put up a 80 meter horizontal loop , will work every band but 160 meters and is the quietest antenna you will ever use . |
