I use WSJT-X 1.6.0  Occasionally I see people use "CALL CALL R73" in the place of "CALL CALL RRR".  How are they doing it, a free message would be used up with calls and spaces.  Is it different software that has the R73 option?  It would speed up contacts since there would be one less transmission.

Also I see some people pskreporting with 1.7.0 WSJT-X  Where are they getting it?

I know JT65 is popular among members so I hope someone can help.

Thanks

Simple enough...hit the RRR button to auto-fill the dialog box (to the left of the "Gen Msg" radio button)....then click just after the 3rd "R"...hit the backspace...type 73.....and you get 'call call rr73'

No real rhyme or reason to it

I feel so dumb now.  I was clicking on the "call call 73" and making it "call call R73". But it showed tx as being "call call R". I will try backspacing tomorrow.

Thanks

I usually cut short the exchange with a freeform "RRR Aloha 73" to save a couple of minutes between QSOs.

I use JT Alert with WSJT-X.  It has macros; one of mine is "@ RRR 73" (@ inserts their call sign).  With the macro button, no potential fumbling to backspace / type.

Once you use JT alert, you will never not use it. Basically a must-have. Integrates well with the WSJT-X package and adds a lot of great feature on top. Oh...and it's free, and takes about 2 minutes to install and configure.

You can set up macros for the freeform block in WSJT-X.  I don't think it does the @ function though.

I hope you found it informative.  I did the interview a few weeks ago and they intentionally delayed release until just before my next trip to Kaho`olawe.

I had read of your situation before, I believe on QRZ.  It is interesting.

My shorthand wouldn't be as cool "RRR Cheese 73"

I will look into macros, I don't know what I would say, but now I know why I see so many on my JT65 decodes.

I occasionally see macros with antenna type and wattage used. Though a bit less the last few times I looks d at jt65 than when I first got interested maybe 6 months ago. Maybe it has fallen out of fashion.

Honestly, no one cares about someone's antenna and wattage.

Exactly, and it messes up the flow of the QSO.
