Hi guys,
Need a little help. I bought a used PRO-668 scanner in eBay with a broken USB port. I've reached out to Radio Shack and Whistler for an estimate of the repair, and am awaiting their answer. Do any of you have any other ideas for repairing it? The seller offered me $25 or a refund, but since the original packaging got picked up with the garbage today, he is balking in the refund without it. The floor is open for comments.

If it's just the mechanical connector that's broken, that's not a very difficult repair.

I would imagine RS is either going to say no dice or quote what it will cost to replace the entire board the port is
attached to. If it's just a connector, anyone with halfway decent soldering skills could probably fix it if you can
find the replacement connector (check mouser/digikey for the equivalent.)

I'd see if you can find a nearby "makerspace" type place with someone skilled in soldering if you can't DIY.

look on ebay for the parts and handle it yourself.

above all, buy a good soldering iron, never skimp on a soldering iron.
