No, not the Rooski rifle, the SKCC Straight Key Sprint, tonight at 8 - 10 PM Eastern (0000 - 0200Z, 6/22/2016).
Details here: http://www.skccgroup.com/operating_activities/weekday_sprint/ Grab the ol' J-38, cootie key, or bug and join us. |

I managed to snag the bonus station, and I also had a QSO with Alex, in Russia. So not too many contacts (only 10), but I'm pretty happy with the DX.
Edit: I hate it when the thunderstorms shut things down. Fortunately there aren't any here for a change, and it's finally starting to dry out. |

Have you tried the Flying Pigs Bacon Run yet?
40 was running a steady S5 noise level Sunday night and I still managed to make 16 QRP contacts in about an hour's time. |

I've never tried them, but might join and give it a go. The big problem for me, is the time of the contest. I suspect most will be on 40 meters during their sprints, and that is a bit of a problem since I don't have a permanent 40 meter antenna. I'd have to put up a temporary one in the backyard. We'll see. The NAQCC also has monthly QRP CW contests, and they have straight key and bug categories. |

The Run for the Bacon occurs 8 - 10 PM your time, which should give you a good run on 20 for the first hour, at least during the Summer and early Autumn. Reading the comments on Sunday's sprint, there seemed to be significant activity on 20 for the first hour.
When I turned the K1 on at 9:30 Eastern, it was set for 40 and I immediately heard a couple of stations calling. I worked them and then stated calling. For the next 45 minutes they were coming to me. When that died down, I switched to 80 on the K3 and worked 2 more. (My K1 is set up for 40 and 20.) |
