Does anyone make a 30 to 50 watt H.F. amp that will work on 20 meters?

A lot of people who use the FT-817ND have one of these in reserve for some extra muscle...

Yup. That amp is what I run with my 817 for voice ops. It's not the best amp, but it's pretty lightweight and cheap and that's important to me.

I figured you would stop in soon on this one.

I'm glad I'm predictable, makes it easy for the NSA.

Yeah the HF packer is nicer in a few ways compared to the china mart amp. But it is heavier, bulkier, and more expensive in kit form. In terms of functionality the China Matt amp is better IMO.

Almost looks like a Tokyo High Power knockoff. I have one of the THP units they made specifically
for the 817, but of course it's no longer available -- if you can find one used, that'd be the go-to
amp.

THP is bigger, and heavier, has auto band switching, SWR protection.
