Here's my dilemma. My shack would be best on one side of the house but the best place to run a wire dipole is on the opposite side. If I were to run a dipole in this configuration, I'd have about 75 feet of coax running either from the outside, through the attic, down the opposite exterior wall and back into the house. Option B would be to run it along the outside of the house passing multiple gutter downspouts, wires, etc. Neither of which is ideal.
Another option would be to run a loop along my roof. I'd have to measure but I should be close to 150' of wire length which would allow me to work 10m-40m. It would also allow me to run ladder line only 20-30 feet before entering the shack or external balun and then about 10' of coax into the shack. I could also get the wire about 30 feet off of the ground and it would be far easier to service than the dipole. Given this, would this be a practical antenna? Max power would be around 50w. |
