wondering what these small wooded bomb looking things are, suspect they float, meant to look further, but got side-tracked and forgot to go back.

Looks like you've got a budding photog on your hands!
I went to NAS Pensacola for the first time a couple of summers ago. I only set aside a day, that was a mistake. I love that kind of stuff, and the museum there has a ton of neat stuff to look at.

Eta... Some have claimed that our spyplanes and skunkworks all are direct descendants of the Black Cats spy plane program.

It's planes like these I used to dream about having adventures on while I was a kid. This one was like Tales of the Gold Monkey on steroids.
