Just noticed there will be NO tailgating !
Wow ! I have never been to a ham radio flea market and there is no tailgating. What is the world coming to. I wonder how well that will go over, many guys have large items and a trailer full of crap they like to sell outside. I always get a table inside, too hot in Texas to sit in a parking lot. That will certainly make it lively inside the place. Should be interesting first time out at the new location. The previous location was great for me, 20min drive. See you guys there. John |

John I read somewhere that tailgating is not legal in the city of Irving. Don't know for sure if that's true, but that would explain it. Like you say, it's too hot outside, anyway. The last couple of years, there were only a couple of rows of cars, and not too many people browsing. They went from 60 indoor tables at Plano, to over 140 at this new location, and they are all sold out. Air conditioning is good. I've never seen tailgating at gun shows, and they do OK. This location is actually a lot better for me. Much closer, and I won't have to spend $20 on toll roads, driving up there. |
I went today. Didn't buy anything. It was OK, but not spectacular. I think it was on par with last year. The Irving convention center is fine, and the air conditioning worked well. One strange thing, is that the city is in charge of the parking garage, and they charge $5 for parking. They even charge $5 in the overflow lot, which is nothing but a grass field across the street.

| Went yesterday. Far as the "flea market" side, lots of folks selling the same stuff they sell at other smaller shows, just a bit more. The commercial side was good with Icom, Yaesu,Flex, other manufacturers. Overall, good if you need things lie connectors, cable, maybe a used radio. Also good if you are looking for a new radio and want to play touchy feely, talk to the factory reps. Ran into folks I know, and when I first walked in, bumped into WA9PIE of Ham Radio Deluxe. Recognized the call. |

I was out there Friday and Sat with a table an did well. Sold lots of hardline connectors and cable.
It was fun seeing folks and talking shop. Clean place and more room to move around. Disappointed in the crowds, same amout Friday and Saturday nothing huge as in the past when there were 500 people wanting to come in Sat morning. I don't know why there were NO programs on Friday. Sat the programs were very crowded due to the lack of programs Friday. 73 |
