He's 9. I'd like to get him a technician license. Can I just take the test for him?
Just kidding. Are there study resources that are a little more kid-friendly? The No-Nonsense is a little too terse and I'm afraid the ARRL book will be too verbose. |

| I was just going to post the same topic. My 8 yo daughter has been asking me when she can start studying. I told her once school gets out. Well, they are out and they day she go out of school, she asked me if she could start studying! We'll see about giving this a try. |

| I agree with the others that the practice tests are a great way to start. The practice tests are great for helping to memorize the rules, and other general info required on the test. However, for the math questions and ohms law problems I would recommend teaching them the theory. You could maybe make it a bit more interesting by adding some simple practical exercises with a multimeter, batteries, and resistors. Having them draw the circuit, calculate the expected values, then taking measurements to check their results will help to build practical skills and also make the learning more fun. |

I used HamTestOnline for all three of my licenses, but I'm not sure that it's kid friendly. I like the suggestion of doing some electrical experiments to make it more fun. That's probably a good idea. I just want somebody to play radios with. |

And you can help him with the test The things he does not understand, explain it and he'll likely pick it up quick. It's real easy stuff. I think a few weeks/summer of qrz.com practice tests you'll have a new tech. |
