I am looking for a 250gb SSD internal drive replacement for my desktop computer.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should buy? |

from what I hear Samsung are the best and most reliable - that's what I put in my wife's computer
I need to pick one up - 120 bucks at Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147372 |

I use OCZ exclusively for primary partition and OS. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227706 This is the one I use for my main computer. |

Go to newegg and sort by number of reviews after you choose your size/price range. Tom's Hardware has the money quote: "At the end of the day, the real-world differences between SSDs in a desktop environment aren't altogether large. The most noticeable performance increase occurs when you go from a hard disk to just about any solid-state drive." I bought a Samsung for my wife about a year ago. Between that and the large slow fans I put on her case and the gt750ti she has a very quiet computer. |

Given everything we've learned, it's not really appropriate to end the experiment by crowning an official winner. But the 840 Pro wrote the most data, so it deserves to take center stage as the final curtain closes. http://techreport.com/review/27909/the-ssd-endurance-experiment-theyre-all-dead/4 |

I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 250gb for my laptop.
I have* a two month old Crucial MX100 120gb in the desktop, ran great. * I thought the SSD might solve a few issues** with that 6 year old desktop ... nope. New desktop now
** The speed issue was very much solved though |
| I have a Samsung EVO 120gb for my boot drive, I install games and programs on my other drives. I just bought a 240gb PNY for installing some new games that are coming out. I would have no issue buying another Samsung evo and it's what I would recommend for a windows drive, very fast too. 4-5 sec boot times for windows 7. |
| I just added a PNY 240GB SSD to an old Toshiba Satellite. Picked it up yesterday from Best Buy for $96 with tax. The laptop is screaming! |

For anyone who's curious, I see that Amazon has Crucial's M500 960 GB SSD on sale for $300. It's not the most bleeding edge new technology, but it's still very fast and well regarded. $300 for a terabyte class drive is a pretty smokin' deal. I'm not getting any kind of referral or kickback here. Just thought I'd pass on the info. |
