I'm very used to the standard JT65 message exchange, but over the past few days I keep seeing an odd one:

WB3JS*/HTML (20 meters, moments ago).  No response to the message that I see (the band is just starting to come in out west).  The OMs QRZ page seems unremarkable.

A few days ago, I saw a lot of CALLSIGN /PHOTO; didn't note the call sign or remember whether or not it's the same as this morning.

Any ideas about what's trying to be conveyed?

No idea, but I like the idea of being able to pass more data with jt65/9

Maybe he's operating remote with an internet link? Just a guess...

I've seen a few creative messages...  just not getting these though.

N8WB*/HYBRID was just sent, same offset as earlier.  As earlier, no obvious reply near it on the waterfall.

Between the mention of /HTML, /PHOTO and /HYBRID, I'm wondering if it's some reference to SSTV perhaps?  There seems to be interest in Easypal on the second fellow's web page.

I think I figured it out - no time to dig in (off to work!), but this seems to explain it:  http://jq1hdr.uzusionet.com/easypal_eng/jt65-hf/tx.html

There's lots of noise in that area of the waterfall on my end right now, but It does appear there could be something beyond just the JT65 signal near it.

Very interesting stuff - using wsjt-x I wondering if this is possible - time to do more studies!

ETA: it does do wsjt-x - see http://jq1hdr.uzusionet.com/easypal_eng/

so, looks like maybe jt65 is being used to send address info for picture retrieval via an internet connection with specialty software?

Yep, this is fun. We've used Jt65 to send TinyURLs, Google maps coordinates, etc. no real point of it from my end other than to have fun.

On JT-65 the consensus here is that it would take fourscore and seven years to send the Gettysburg address.

Not true! It only takes two transmissions to send the Gettysburg Address. Only one if you are expecting the format.

But very useful in building DX QSO's.

I probably hold the record for DX JT65 QSO's from Afghanistan.

ETA: Tiny url's via JT65, very interesting.

Very useful in building all QSO's.  I have 30 states (as of yesterday) whereas I had only 5 two weeks ago.  And, I have (IIRC) 10 countries in the last 2 weeks where I had only 1 (USA) before that.  It's pretty exciting to get the numbers up and the spotter websites give me great confidence.  Now all I have to do is get back to SSB because the personal contact is still 'better' IMHO.
