Wow that looks eerily similar to a project I have sitting unfinished out in my garage. I TIG welded the chassis at the time. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee73/tangotag_bucket/0207071948a-1.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee73/tangotag_bucket/0207071947.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee73/tangotag_bucket/Pallet.jpg I always wanted an overhead crane in my garage! |

Oops that not my garage its a friends shop where I used the TIG. My garage looks like piles of crap on and inside the half done project. But that crane has saved many backs. We used the crane to assemble this Bridgeport that I used to cut the fishmouths on the buggy chassis. Later we used the crane to disassemble the Bridgeport for removal then the reassemble its replacement.

I used to fly single engine planes. A friend of mine introduced me to gyrocopters. I want one so bad. Flying a gyro is like riding a sports motorcycle and flying an F16 at the same time. Can't insert a video for some reason. Here are a few links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=058NelwSkkw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kxu543VwlA |

The crane caught my eye also. I thought I would be the only one scanning the entire shop, looking past the project! Fortunately there were no body panels on that baby. I had come up with multiple questions regarding everything BUT the project! Bill |

It's cool, but I'd say that they are about 4X the price that they should be, or more.
Though it's way sexier than my old C-150 was, that's for sure. |

O That particular wood stove has never been used as far as I've known. That's more of a fourth and last ditch heating method for the shop. I actually think that side chimney was put in for a black smithing coal stove that never came to be. A few guys get together at my friends shop to build stuff. Because of this one year I took an extended vacation and enrolled in 4 weeks worth of all day GTAW instruction at the local JuCo. It was a concentrated course for the G2 boilermakers test. Having access to the equipment was one thing but I needed to learn to use it correctly. The milling machine operation was on the job training. I still won't operate them unless someone verifies my setup before I begin removing metal. Here is the last pic of the shop. An H-Press I made with a 20 ton air/hydraulic ram. The press is built for a 50 ton jack. The tiny adjustable pins were replaced with something Iike 1 1/2" drill rod. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee73/tangotag_bucket/IMG_1324.jpg If I got into RC more I would consider finishing the dune buggy project. It could be some sort of UGV DARPA looking thing. I know one guy locally who is well into building a gyro copter. I think one of the chaps at the shop has even given him some help on a part to two on the death machine. Quoted:

They won't stall as long as you maintain positive G. They require very little room for take-off and landing. |

It has been a passion of his for a number of years. Hopefully some day he will get the thing airborne. |
