Just got an Icom IC-T70A and need help with setting up DTCS codes.
Would like to have a TX DTCS code/tone but leave the RX open to hear everything on the frequency. Is this possible on this radio? What is DTCS polarity used for? Looks like you can set it for reverse polarity. What does that do and why would you need to do that? Reason for needing the DTCS code off for RX is the group I need to communicate with has one DTCS code for TX and a different DTCS code for RX. I can't figure out how to select two different DTCS codes so thought I could leave the RX code off so I can receive the communications. So far I really like the radio but will be very disappointed if I can not get this sorted out. Thanks, Patrick AC8ND |

Thanks for reply.
Yes have cable and Icom softaware and CHIRP. Neither will allow different RX/TX DTCS codes that I can figure out. It does have that option for the Chinese radios though. If I set the programing for TONE it only will let me use CTCSS tones. If I set the programing for DTCS then the TONE only is not an option. Guess I will have to use the Baofeng to communicate with this group. The group provides emergency comminications for running events and in the past has had problems with jammers. Having different TX and RX DTCS codes seemed to help filter out the jammers. They haven't had a problem for the last year so could go back to one DTCS code but would have to re-program hundereds of radios just to alow me to use my Icom. Not worth it. Wonder what the Chinese radio haters would have to say about this? Bash the Baofengs as junk but I have to use one because the Japanese radio does not have the programming flexability that the Baofeng has. |
