Took my friend to AES Milwaukee today for him to test for his Tech license, which he passed. I got the bug to study more again and try for General after 1st of year so I picked up Gordon West book while I was there so I have something to look over while I sit at work. Was great to see all the people come out with a smile on their face and tell each other they are a new ham or upgrade. One of the store employees was playing with a new Kenwood HF rig I want to say 9000 or something with a price tag of $8000. Was a very cool looking radio. I have had my Tech since I think 2010 it is now, now that my work schedule has clammed down a little and I am able to have a regular schedule again I can work on studying and taking on line tests and asking all of you questions when I am stumped.
As far as my friend he is into guns as well thanks to me and now we will be able to have comms when we go camping and to other events. Hopefully I can get him on this site and take part in more ways to spend money.... So I am doing my part to help spread the Ham radio disease. Watched another guy who upgraded from Tech to General walk out of the store with a Yaesu Ft-450D and power supply all while I was drooling over the Icom 7200 that I want when I upgrade. |
