I find it a little ridiculous that I'm eagerly waiting for the ULS database to reflect my Extra class upgrade...and I don't even own an HF radio. So I'm about to head to the candy store and remedy that situation. I'm headed up to the Atlanta HRO to pickup a 7200. I might even pickup a can of green paint on my way home.

Cool. Do you have an 'operable' shack ready? Antennae choice, etc? Arfquiring minds want to know. I'm currently operating on 2m with a Yaesu VX-6R with a multi-band discone antenna up on the roof. Last week, I picked up a QSO-KING 117ft end-fed antenna for the HF rig. I'm basically going to run it along my fence-line in an open box configuration up about 15ft off the ground and see how that works out for me. Hoping to get that in the air tomorrow and fire this baby up! I've got some other little boxes that have been lying around waiting for me to make a decision on a radio, too, like the power supply, swr & power meter, tuner, etc... |
