I am interested in something on HF portable operation. Not picnic table portable but something more along the lines of "the only things I am taking on this trip is what is in my pack and I will see you in a week" kind of portable operation. That is a tough role to fill on a budget but I know other have mentioned the same thing in other posts. Could be an interesting discussion on which radio, antenna, power options, etc.

Maritime Mobile and Air Mobile stations......don't know who to call.

Expensive radios, antennas, and amps....they deserve equal time.

+1. This could be a great topic for discussion. I've done a lot of this while taking trips on my dual-sport motorbike.

SCWOLVERINE, where is the link to the first podcast? I could not find it on your webpage.

I'm still working on getting the iPad to "key" the radio for PSK, not having any luck so far and I know of no app that does rigcontrol, but I'd be happy to do a interview for a show, lord knows I've learned a lot about radio in the last year here.

Pignology has several apps and hardware that will do Rig Control.  With a KX3, it gives you access to the terminal window if you have one of their Piglet wifi to serial bridges.  Still working on the waterfall functionality though.  Check it out at pignology.net

This morning I installed the app PSKer on my iPhone and iPad, and have on order the KF5INZ Easy Digi interface, which should arrive this week. My plan is to try them next weekend while camping. If I get everything to work I'll be happy to share how I set it up.

Contact Joe Walsh, and see if he will talk to you about AM or vintage gear.  Seriously.

Don't know if it's true, but rumor has it that he hangs out on 75 meter AM.  He has also donated some vintage gear to the ARRL.
