Nice! That P40L card looks familiar. Yeah, I think I worked half of the Caribbean during the ARRL SSB contest a couple months ago...10m was good to me. Quoted:
Nice I worked that /AM station on his flight from Las Vegas to NYC a couple months back. I think we may have worked him on the same evening. |

The only ATNO I have received lately is from Wallis and Futuna. I did have the Fiji Islands (another ATNO) show up in LoTW, but the card has not arrived. http://www.pbase.com/david_3/image/155962183/original.jpg I've had a few others show up in LoTW (Antigua & Barbuda, Slovenia, Nicaragua, Ukraine, Asiatic Russia, New Zealand), but they are all repeat countries, so I didn't send for a card. Nice...I just sent off for a card from him also. I got this card yesterday, pictured with my stack of outgoing...just need to stamp and stuff with green stamps and hopefully get a bunch in the mail soon.

Bah! I've been trying for that one! Can't seem to make it happen though.

You guys got some nice ones! I received this today. Nothing too exotic, but nice to have a card from Taiwan. He was nice enough to email and thank me for sending my card, and let me know when he sent his. http://files.qrz.com/i/bu2bi/BU2BI1.jpg That's a nice card! |
This book looks like it would be fun for those here that love to get the oddball islands.

Another one today. Pretty neat folding card.

Y'all are making contacts that I can only dream about. Damn little chance I'll ever make contact with a station in the Indian Ocean, or even the middle east. ![]() Yeah I fought for this one. It was off the end of a wire in the attic into a big pileup. I honestly think this game is pure luck sometimes.

I'll echo that statement. Living in the Pacific Northwest, the Middle East is just not somewhere I am going to reach with my present setup. I need to go with a beam to hit that area. That is a great card, and I would love to be able to get something like that! It's fun in this forum to see what other people see as exotic DX. For me it is Africa and the Middle East, because I just can't reach that area. I see East Coast people get very excited about Japan. Living where I do, the Pacific is what I can work easily. For me, Japan is probably the equivalent of a Germany contact for the East coast people. My LOTW "recent QSL's" often looks like this: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5232/14360034422_1f0fd4b0e3_z.jpg Sometimes I think we need a QTH swap program in order to maximize our DX opportunities!!! I've QSO'd North Africa several times at home in MW MT, ME shouldn't be too much of a stretch from WA. Have you tried a different antenna set up? My home logbook does resemble yours, though with the amount of Japanese QSO's.

I have both a 31 foot vertical and a horizontal end fed wire. I have hit the Canary Islands, but not North Africa itself. Spain, Italy and Greece I have worked, but there seems to be a magical line that my signal does not cross to the South of that. |

I think one thing we have going for us over here in the is that there are a lot more big guns in VK-land and JA-land than there are in the Congo so, with them doing all the heavy lifting, I can make contact to the other side of the world easier than someone in the Pacific trying to make it to Africa. |
