I looked at this box on Friday at Academy, it was $12.99, today it's on sale for $7.99. I almost bought it till I realized this model didn't have the oring gasket. The oring model with the tray was $16.99.

Still a good deal for a basic gear box. I may pick one up at this price.

My son gave me one of those.

I should go clean it out and turn it into a go box

If there is a groove  in the lid I'll bet you could fill it with silicone that dries into a pliable pseudo-gasket. Or just don' put anything in it that you don't want to get wet

I'd spend the extra if you think you may need the o ring

I bought the model with the oring myself. I played with it a bit this morning, my icom 703 is a just about 1/2 inch too long to fit with the faceplate attached. My kenwood vhf radios will fit fine.

I like the silicone idea, but the box without the ring wouldn't be horrible. Splash proof without the seal, probably ok in light rain.

Did someone say orange?
I bought this a couple of weeks ago with the intent to build my own AK box.

For $8 you can glue sparkly beads to it and put my little pony stickers on it.

If you're worried about an o-ring you need to get a real ammo box.  Or a Pelican box or similar.

Those Plano things aren't rigid enough to stay sealed for shite.
