| I was listening to W1AW last night and they were running split, listening up 3. I have a IC-7200 and didn't have a clue how one would set that up. Looked in the manual - just tells one there is SPLIT button and a RIT setting. Nothing I found on YouTube or even on the web tells me how to set it up. Anyone have a step by step that could help me? |

Take a look at the manual online as it explains it better. Quick and dirty: (assuming you are already on the RX frequency) Hold down the split button (this sets A=B and turns SPLIT on) Tune to the TX freq (at this point you have one frequency in A and the other in B) Push A/B to go back to the RX frequency. Verify that the frequency changes to the correct TX frequency when you key the mic. If you already have the TX and RX frequencies in A and B then you just push SPLIT and don't hold it down. SPLIT will show up in the LCD and you will TX on the opposite frequency from the one that you are currently listening on. Don't forget to turn off SPLIT after you work the station. You don't want to be like a guy I know who was trying to work a station on 10m while transmitting over everyone back on 20m.
Took me a few tries to realize why the other party couldn't hear me.

Never would have guessed that an on-line manual would not be the same as my paper manual. Live and learn. I had this EXACT same thought when trying to get digi set up the first time, went online and was like "What the...?!?!? Why isn't all this in my paper manual?!?!?" |
