I hope to get my antenna up this weekend--hope. So that means I will be making up my feed cable. I am going to be using the DXE 400 max cable. I estimate that the run should be 25' to 30' from balun to antenna tuner. I order 50' (I will use some of the excess to make up the intermediate cables). About how much extra cable should I run? If I assume that I could run about 40' and the use the extra 10' would be more than enough to make cables from antenna tuner to TX and another cable for antenna tuner to SWR meter (just to check things). Is 10' extra enough? Should I keep the extra in the attic or the shack? I just would prefer to do things only once (well for right now) and I have no reference for any of this. Thanks, you guys have been a wealth of valuable information and wallet drainage! |

Quoted: The only sure way to mess up a termination is to have exactly enough cable. If it's 10' too long, you'll get it right on the first try. At least that's what I learned in tech school. ![]() I mean after I have run it, and know that I have 10' extra, is it worth it to keep that extra, and is 10' extra enough. |
