These kits look kinda cool: HandyPSK

The FAQ says they will be sold soon at $299.  Kind of pricey but still has a high coolness factor

With a rPi and my phone I could do every mode. And stay $250 below that price. Neat idea though.

My old school ghetto tracfone is dumber than a box of rocks  It is able to make and receive calls though, that is about all it is good for.

I just went back and read that again, its a full on radio and computer. Now that is neat.

100mW isn't too bad. I would think a jt65/9 would have been a better choice for modes though. Would be cool to see a matching 5w amp

Eh, I think we could do a lot better.

Monoband 5w PSK transceiver designs abound. Add a raspi with a touch screen and a $2 bluetooth module for external keyboard, small USB sound card, and done. Lots more functionality and I bet it would be cheaper.
