Looking at some sites today to figure out what I might want to do to combat this issue.

Throwing these here for the heck of it

This video shows exactly like what mine sounds like at certain stages of washing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjjUOwstofc

At some point I'll try and tackle this problem.

Wife has a whirlpool duet front-loader that has caused me much rfi.  Pretty much wipes out 17m.

Let me know if anything works!

I would love to throw that thing outside and take a sledgehammer to it......(the machine, not the wife)

Years ago I remember something about guys putting high voltage caps across the ac line to knock down noise

Interesting info at the end of this page - http://www.on4ww.be/emi-rfi.html

I had some smaller torroids laying around so I made up a small run w/ each of the three wires wrapped on its on choke. That didn't seem to do anything. I then recalled info from the above link and ran a small wire from one of the water valves to the ground of the outlet and could hear some reduction in noise on at least one of the bands.

It seems I may have the same issue this person had in which the signal is getting out via the water.

More investigation to follow.

this interference thing looks like it can be an elusive & hard to tame beast.  am setting up my HF station about 50 feet from some power lines, & wondering how bad it is going to be.
