Or if you're handy you could grab this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400555208313 and either replace the plug with an 8pin modular, or made an adapter to the modular plug then you'd have a cable for handhelds also. The software is DOS software. I don't know if it will run under freedos. Having an old computer with Win95 or 98 is handy if you play with old LMR radios. Icom's software would usually run ok in a dos box in windows so might work on XP/2000. Would recommend serial cables to avoid any issues with USB drivers etc. |

The CS-F320/S programs will run under FreeDOS (as will most later Motorola RSS). The program itself will run under XP or 7 in the command prompt window but command prompt will not give the program access to the com ports.
The cable is the same as a cable for a GM300/Maxtrac/Radius/GTX…etc. Other than that it looks exactly like modern CS software from Icom, just doesn't use a mouse and has a blue/black color scheme to it. I'll let you know next time I find out I'll be in the area so I know if I need to bring the 98 computer and cable down with me. |
