I've gotten great advice from the gurus on this forum thus far and wanted to ask another 12v DC question.
I currently have setup a power supply --> pwr gate --> battery & load. I also have setup a solar panel --> charge converter --> battery & load. I currently manually swap the batteries and/or loads if necessary. Is there a relatively easy way to wire these setups together? Ideally I'd like a system that runs through the PS-->PWR GATE, but if AC power is disconnected will quietly start charging off the solar setup instead. Thus far the two solutions I've thought of are (1) manual battery swap as I do now or (2) a switch that will toggle between the solar setup and the AC power supply setup. Thanks for all the advice thus far. I appreciate the collective inputs! |

Simply connect the solar to the battery. The battery will charge off either charging source depending on the state of charge already on the battery. If the PS is off the full output of the solar will flow into the battery. If the PS is on the PS will handle the charging duty. This is done on yachts all the time.
