Cool!   Looks like the island where Jurassic Park was supposed to be!

Story I've told several times.

Only been licensed about 6 months as a General. This was in 2010 and the solar cycle was still in the pits. The DX bug had bitten. Was cruising 12m looking for anything. Suddenly I stopped when I heard a CQ on phone that sounded like he was next door. The call was a Z-something-or-other. Returned with my call and we had a nice 20 minute chat. Let him know that I was a new ham and he welcomed me to the hobby. Swapped the usual gear info including that I was running 100w to a dipole. He told me that where he is from you either work for the gummit or do tourism as there wasn't much else to do. When he found out I was in south LA he wanted to know the real story of Katrina as he didn't trust the media. Like the guy already. When we were about to tie a bow around it he thanked me for the chat. "I don't get to do this very often." When we gave our last 73s this huge pileup came crashing down the likes I've never heard before or since.

Just who is this ZD7FT? Looked him up on QRZ.com and when I found out just where St. Helena Island was it floored me. Lord it's in the middle of nowhere. No airport and one ship a week for mail and supplies.

Haven't made a contact there since.

I've talked to Peter ZD7FT numerous times. Great guy.
