The All Asian DX Contest is this weekend (June 15-16). It is a CW only contest, but might be a good opportunity to contact some of those elusive Asian DX stations. The phone version of this contest will be Sept 7-8.
Go get 'em! |

I haven't heard doodly squat. But I haven't really tried much, either.
I spent the morning putting the final finish coat on the stand I made for my power supply. Then I opened up the K3 and installed the KXV3A module. Then I ran into a problem. After the module is installed, you have to enable it in the K3 menu, and run a calibration sequence with the Utility program. The calibration process requires a dummy load (a simple 50 ohm resistor) to be connected to the transverter out jack. Of course, I didn't have a 50 ohm resistor or the proper BNC connector. Not a big problem, though, and after a quick trip to Rat Shack, I was ready to get down to business. But, every time I ran the calibration sequence, I got an error message. After a few tries, I decided to make up another dummy load from scratch, to see if I had a bad connection of some sort. Fortunately, that was It, and I managed to get the radio back up an running. So I'm finally ready to start chasing Asian DX, but at this point, I'm just too damn pooped. Maybe tomorrow will be a little better. Oh, and somehow, I managed to lose a Surefire flashlight today, too. I mean, it has to be somewhere in the house, but damned if I can find it. I hope I didn't leave it inside the radio.
