How do you display them?
In a Binder, in a File Box, Hang them on the wall??? What is the method of sending them out now, In an envelope with a SASE? |
| The more interesting ones (*ahem* Piccolo *ahem*) go on the wall with double-sided tape. There are 36 states, Puerto Rico, and many DX up there. The more basic ones are kept in a 3-ring binder using these inserts that have a cardstock center with clinging plastic on each side. |

Cheap digital picture frame from Wal-Mart. Scan in the cards as JPEGs and copy them to the memory storage device. Turn it on and get your geek on.
As for QSLing, always always put return postage and a self addressed envelope in with the card. Return postage can be a stamp if doing USA and PR QSLs. For DX it's either an International Reply Coupon or cash. Tidbit on QSLs. Use #6 3/4 envelopes for DX. Most international postage regulations state the use of #6 3/4 size envelopes or equivalent. A #10 envelope is really only acceptable sending out of the USA and even then it's frowned upon. |

I'm not sure what a # 6 1/2 envelope is. I have some # 6 3/4 envelopes, but two of the QSL cards I have received, would not have fit in them (they are oversized QSL cards). |

DX however you'd be far better off using the smaller envelopes. My return rate went dramatically up when I switched. Now if a DX station decides to send out an oversized card then the envelope is on them. |

The bands are so crappy today, that I spent all morning trimming the shrubs, and all afternoon scanning QSL cards. I have them running on my Mac as a slideshow screensaver. Very cool. Now if I can only figure out how to get them moved over to my PC.

It is #6 3/4. I though that might be what you were talking about, but I wasn't sure if it was some special European size. I'll give them a try. |

I put mine on a digital photo frame. I scan the paper ones I receive, and those from Eqsl are just a click & save. I just put mine on my mini android tablet, and have them running as a slide show I need to go look for a screen saver app to have them come on automatically |

Here is another way to display them. Wallpaper your Ham shack with them. Still don't know how to embed videos.

All I could think of was "Dude. The money you spent in postage." Granted he could be doing a big chunk of it through the bureau but still he has some serious change invested there.

Is it standard practice to send QSL cards to local guys you make contact with on say, 2m? Or is it mostly reserved for "further" contacts?
An Elmer of mine sent me one for a 2m contact. I've never had QSL cards to send any back but I just got some in, and was wondering if it is the polite thing to send him one back. |

I'm not sure what the customary procedure is for QSL cards when it comes to contacts on 2m (I'm a HF guy....never operated on 2m), but anyone who sends me a QSL card will certainly get one of mine in return. It's definitely the polite thing to do. |

If you got one, send one. It's a courtesy.

The only time I've ever sent cards for 2m is when doing SSB or satellites. Come to think of it, if you decide to chase grids on 2m for VUCC you may as well start with the close ones. 2m FM simplex can net you the first few grids. Per the VUCC rules is doesn't matter if you do FM, SSB, or digital to bag the grid. Just no repeaters allowed. Satellite has its' own award. |
