| Anyone on here close? I sure am not. I've worked 15 and have 13 confirmed. Wonder how the contest will change it though. |

I was driving to an IPSC pistol match about 3 years ago
cruzing down the interstate, I dropped my TARHEEL II to 6 meters 6 was WFO and I was in a rural area, I told a ham my location on the highway, and he told me my grid square suddenly I had a big pile-up I was running about 70mph and didn't even try to log, but I guess it was an uncommon grid, I felt like I was the DX LOL |

There are 4 big guns in my grid. Legal limit and phased stacked yagis and all. EN-71 will never generate a pile up. |

Ha, ha. I just made my first 6m contact. I did it by tuning my 10m antenna with the tuner in my rig. But like we used to say in the Navy...a kill is a kill. ![]() Cool! The bands are dead as hell here. Absolutely nothing outside of IN is workable. Not even K9CT in IL. |

I can hear a few stations in Mexico, but the QSB is so bad, that I don't think I work them. They are pretty strong for 10 or 15 seconds, and then they are gone for 30 seconds to a minute. Just not a good day. THat's 6m every day. I really respect the guys who have serious numbers on the band. Even a great antenna array doesn't guarantee good results. |

OTOH, I can build a 6m dipole pretty quickly....... I'm closing in on VUCC (worked, not confirmed) on 6 with something like 8 countries, all worked via a dipole I made from parts from a broken TV antenna at about 25' up during the handful of contests each year for the last 3 years or so. When E skip is open on 6 it tends to be OPEN. If you have the space try to put up a pair of dipoles at right angles that you can switch between, off the ends of a dipole signal is pretty much nonexistent. So a pair of dipoles so you can switch between N-S and E-W coverage is pretty handy. |
